As part of the MSc Clinical Science, all STP trainees need to undertake a research project which accounts for a third of their MSc. The suitability of a research project can vary from specialism to specialism therefore trainees will receive this information directly from their programme team.

To carry out their research project, trainees will be allocated a workplace supervisor (this can be, but does not have to be, their training officer). In addition, trainees will have access to academic support and guidance from the university and programme team throughout the project. The programme team will ensure that appropriate support is in place to help trainees successfully complete their research project. If you are new to being a workplace supervisor, you may find it useful to watch a podcast from a previous supervisor event.

MAHSE help to support the role of workplace supervisor by providing details on University procedures for research projects. As MAHSE support eight STP programmes with 19 specialisms, the information provided is quite high level. Below, you will find the ethics procedures and a list below of which specialisms sit in which university.

  • UoM: University of Manchester
  • MMU: Manchester Metropolitan University
  • UoL: University of Liverpool

If you have any questions about the information, please get in touch with your relevant programme team. If you do not have contact details for them, please contact admin@mahse.co.uk and include the name of the trainee you will be supervising.
